DC requires a rental business license, and owners who live outside DC must name a local agent. Montgomery County and Prince George's County each require their own rental license. Virginia has no statewide license, but some localities require registration.
Maryland requires homes built before 1978 to be registered and inspected before a tenant moves in. DC has its own lead disclosure rules.
